Our client is
a world-renowned networking printing and imaging technology
provider. They were looking for an outsourcing partner to help
provide their OEM customer, a leading Japanese printer
manufacturer, with a highly customized solution in a very timely
manner.
Challenge:
This was a totally new design of a gateway product which
included a richer set of features for easier printer
configuration and printing management than ever seen before. It
would support different print mechanism, i.e. LPR mode, NetWare
Print Server mode, Remote Printer mode and IEEE 1284. The most
important point was that the product must pass Novell Yes
Certification to prove compatibility with a certified NetWare
platform. This meant it had to continue operating in a highly
stressful environment without causing system crashes or
interrupting any other part of the IT system.
Service Scope:
WeSoft's technical team evaluated the standard and required
features of printers and set out to design the Product
Functional Specification and User Interface Design according to
the client’s specific requirements and features for the new
product.
Software development tasks including NLM programming (server
side) and user interface programming using MFC programming
(client snapin) were required.
Full set of testing and QA services, including developing of
test plan, test case and test execution, were employed.
Result:
The solution was developed within the schedule. This included
detailed product training provided to the client's OEM customer
so that they could maintain the source code and make further
enhancements to the product line to meet future needs.
